Farewell, my friend.
A day will come,
when you must leave here.
You’ve been a guest—
welcome in my home
for all these years.
I remember—vividly—
that I didn’t care for you at first.
You were bitter, harsh,
a bit mean at times.
But,
I was taught to be a gracious host—
and everyone else seemed to enjoy your company.
In a matter of time,
I saw what they saw.
I felt what they felt,
when you were around.
And,
you’ve been a good friend to me,
you have held me,
when I was sad.
You’ve given me courage,
when I needed it most.
Lately,
you’ve been teaching me new lessons—
what a good friend, indeed.
As time has marched forward,
I’ve welcomed new guests, new friends—
friends who also give me,
hope, strength, and love.
When it’s time,
I ask that you go quietly—
there’s no need to throw a fit.
You’ll always be my friend,
and the memories we’ve made together
will always be ours.
So,
just as the best movies must come to an end,
so must our time together—
our arc is nearly complete.
Best wishes, take care—
Farewell my friend.
